Sayako Nakagawa aka Osaka Groove is a keyboardist/composer based in Melbourne.
Her musical journey begun in Japan when she was in her mother’s womb listening to her playing piano. She grew up learning piano and graduated from the Osaka College of Music in Japan. Her soulful, smooth and yet funky sound has led her to perform piano and keyboard across many different music styles including soul, R’nB, funk and acid jazz bands. Since moving to Melbourne, her love of music has led her to work with local and international artists including; Alariiya, Florelie Escano (UK), Joys Soul, Gemma Sherry (NY), Yasukazu Kano(JPN) and Tayutau(JPN). Sayako has also collaborated with Japanese taiko drums and bamboo flute duo, A.YA. One of her more interesting performances has been a ‘Piece of Artwork’ by German based Australian artist, Sarah Jane Norman where she was ‘sounding out’ Sarah’s artwork with her piano. Sayako joined Melbourne based Afro-beat band Alárìíyá in 2014 and has been performing with them regulary ever since.
